Pig (Part 2)

It seemed the weightless movements of this pig in the air was the only motion in the classroom. I must have been staring at the floor from the shelter of my cap’s brim for quite some time because when I looked up again, the spectacle had changed.
Molded plastic fruits and vegetables joined the floating pig – apples, pears, squash, carrots – they, too were weightless in the air. These pieces hovered in measured orbit around the pig-thing. It seemed the room had transformed into an anti-gravity chamber. Was I still on Earth? Was this scene unfolding still a part of “reality” or merely the dysfunction of my sleepless mind entertaining itself?

Still, nothing was actually happening. The fruity-plastic orbited the pig in slow motion, directionless and pointless; while the pig hovered in the same inane manner it had been since it was first revealed to the class.

Finally, something did happen. But I was still baffled. The fruit and vegetable pieces began thrusting themselves at the pig. Yet, like the frivolous pig itself, the newly introduced plastic pieces moved in a sort-of slow motion replay. Each piece merely tapped the pig’s body and gently rebounded from the pink surface as a released balloon kisses the ceiling and bobs again.

I chanced a quick look at the student who owned this presentation. I was becoming leery of him so I used my cap for stealth. He was leaning back in his chair, elbow on the writing armrest and chin in his hand. His legs were stretched out in front of him, feet crossed. Again, his look was self-satisfied and cocky. He was pleased with the display thus far.

Stay tuned for Part Three tomorrow.
